Bono has re-recorded his vocal for an old demo of the song ‘Wave of Sorrow’. At the band’s official website, Bono explained that the song was one of the unfinished tracks from the album. According to his words, the song was trying to describe experiences that Bono himself and Ali had, when we they both working together in Ethiopia during the famine. The new version of the composition is out this month.

U218 Singles is a greatest hits-style compilation album by U2 released in Ireland on 17 November 2006, in Australia on 18 November 2006, in the United Kingdom on 20 November 2006. In the United States it was released on 21 November 2006. The album contains 18 songs altogether. 16 of their most famous and successful hits, as well as “The Saints Are Coming” (a collaboration with Green Day) and a new composition entitled “Window in the Skies.” U218 Videos, a DVD featuring videos from throughout the band’s career, was released the same day as the album.

The boy had several names: first, he was called “Steinvic von Huyseman”, then just “Huyseman”, then “Houseman”, then “Bon Murray”, later “Bono Vox of O’Connell Street”, and finally just “Bono”.

“Bono Vox” is an alteration of the word Bonavox, which is a brand of hearing aid. Translated from Latin, the phrase means “for a good voice”. “Bona Vox” was the name of a hearing aid shop that they usually passed in Dublin. It is said that Hewson was nicknamed “Bono Vox” after the shop by one of his friends Gavin Friday. Initially, Bono didn’t like the name, but after he learned it loosely translated to “good voice”, he accepted it. The musician has been known as “Bono” since the late ‘70s, even before the formation of the U2 band. Although being his stage name, close family and friends also refer to him as Bono, including his wife and band members.

U2 frontman’s $220 million project to stamp his mark on the skyline of his hometown has hit a wrong note with conservationists. Bono is planning to build Ireland’s tallest tower in Dublin as well as revamp U2’s city centre hotel. They want to ensure that their legacy lives on long after their music stops. Frontman Bono of the legendary U2 was invited to meet with Mayor Bloomberg about philanthropy Thursday. Bono is a main charities supporter benefiting AIDS in Africa. After their meeting, Bono discussed the possibility of Michael Bloomberg running for president. Bono said he thinks Bloomberg is a great and gifted manager and that he could do an awful amount of good inside or outside the White House. According to Forbes magazine, Bloomberg is worth $11.5 billion.

U2 fans from European countries and all over the United States and Canada are ready to push the limits of their partying potential at the Fifth annual inTO the Heart U2 Fan Fest that will take place at several venues in and around Toronto starting on November 1 through November 3.

inTO the Heart is music festival which is held by Greater Toronto Area fans celebrating not only the band’s music and vibe but also it’s spirit. Held annually, ITH continues its tradition as a non-profit event and in honor of its Fifth anniversary. A specific project in Guinea has been identified for this year’s goal to raise 3 thousand US dollars. The donated money will be used to fund a well project in Guinea, Africa, where there is a great need for access to clean water. Over 60 per cent of the population lacks access to a safe water supply. The African Well Fund had its beginnings in the U2 band fan community and they still remain a bedrock of great support.

The first performance will be held tonight, on November 1. The Festival Launch party is going to be an intimate, fun lounge evening, where local fans of U2 band will welcome the many out-of-towners, who come to Toronto to festival during ITH.

Friday’s U2 Songbook will include a stellar lineup of Toronto performers adding Jazz, Reggae, Techno, Soul, and Acoustic stylings to an incredible set-list of the greatest U2 songs. The last show on Saturday will recapture some of the greatest moments of U2’s stunning career.

U2, Sheryl Crow, Bon Jovi, and many other popular performers are set to release a special Christmas DVD collection that will be titled “A Very Special Christmas”. All the proceeds from this DVD release will benefit the Special Olympics. The Christmas DVD is set for release on November 20. It will feature various videos from U2, Sting, Bon Jovi, Vanessa Williams, John Mellancamp, and Run DMC, as well as live performances from Stevie Wonder, Eric Clapton, Wyclef Jean, Sheryl Crow, and Tracy Chapman from the ‘98 and 2000 “Christmas At The White House” special.

A Three-Dimensional film of the legendary group U2 in concert is to get a full release next January. It was announced after a promo version of the film received critical acclaim at the Cannes Film Festival this year. The film has been directed by Catherine Owens and Mark Pellington. It includes pieces from over 700 hours of the South American leg of U2’s Vertigo World Tour. Variety reports that National Geographic Cinema Ventured is going to distribute the film globally in 3-D cinemas.

With an appearance by Paul David Hewson and a concert featuring Alicia Keys and Gwen Stefani, organizers of a Manhattan fundraiser raised $1.5 million for AIDS promised that it would not be a standard benefit fare. The 47-year-old activist and lead singer of the legendary Irish group U2, Bono, was honored at Hammerstein Ballroom. Alicia Keys, the 26- year-old R&B artist, took the stage before over a thousand guests, along with Gwen Stefani and Sheryl Crow. Tickets for dinner and the performance ranged from $100,000 for a table for ten to $5,000 for individuals. Seats in the balcony for a pre-concert cocktail party and the show were $1,000.
