Guess who

Guess who’s going to be performing at the Grammys this year. Rihanna and Kid Rock! Who could possibly think that this is a bad thing to see them perform live before a real audience. We’re definitely looking forward to seeing it. Oh, and we’ve just been informed that the Irish band U2 will also be performing at the award show this year. It’s going to be a really exciting time and they always perform interesting things. Plus, their newest music has been described as some of their best and most innovative ever. So this is going to be even better than usual!

Thanks for the Advice

Bono has decided to add his two cents (pence?) into the new president’s agenda. He put in an open letter to President Obama, which says that he understands what the situation nowadays is, but also that they agree on lots of different things. Bono has made a big project over the last decade or so devoted to increasing foreign aid and lessening the problems of poverty in the third world. This is the main point of his letter to the president. He wants Obama to increase foreign aid and help to share some of America’s major amount of wealth. It’s going to be interesting to see if this will actually happen, but that’s what Bono is doing in the early days of the administration.

It’s happening more and more frequently these days. Singles are slated to be released on certain days. But it keeps happening that the song gets released or leaked onto the internet sooner than it’s supposed to come out. “Get on your Boots”, from the upcoming U2 album, was supposed to come out on February 15th. But instead, a 30 second clip of it came out suddenly on the internet, so they decided to simply released their song on their website. The February non-virtual on-sale date will remain intact however. “Get on Your Boots” is apparently a fusion of soul and rock, sort of Elvis Costello-like but not completely. “No Right to be There”

Says Bono, in front of the Lincoln Memorial, “we have to remember that we’re Irish and have no right to be here.” The occasion? The big concert/festival leading up to the inauguration of our next president, Obama. Obama, who will be sworn in as president tomorrow, has been lauded by a wide range of different musicians in Washington, DC over the last few days. It was an exciting show, including Bruce Springsteen, Beyonce, Pete Seeger and many other musicians and entertainers. And Obama spoke during the program. Anyway, our favorite group, U2 is honored to be part of the festivities and they are excited to be part of this historic moment, according to Bono onstage.

Obama, Numerous Other Artists Get In Way of U2 Concert

It was all planned out, everything set…perfect even. Then these democrats and other (clearly inferior) bands had to gum up the works. Apparently, the U2 concert that was supposed to be open to the public this upcoming Tuesday, has been overcrowded by some pointless presidential inauguralimizational process or something. It just seems like Obama couldn’t help but screw up U2’s special “We Are One: The Obama Inaugural Celebration” concert.

Sneak Preview Coming up

U2 is going to perform their newest single at the Brits awards on February 18th this year. The single is called “Get on your boots” and it’s the first one they’ve released in several years. Their last one was “How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb” and won several Grammys that year. The new single isn’t yet quite so well known, but it does appear to be a good one, and the organizers of the show say that U2’s participation in the show will make it one of the best Brits ever. We’re looking forward to seeing them out on this show!

Don’t Be Fooled

As reported on their website, there are currently no tickets being sold for U2 concerts as there are no official tour dates. Don’t be fooled and buy fake tickets.

Waiting

Are you really looking forward to the new album?  Yeah, me too. Are you a bit nervous about it? Yeah, me too. There is a lot of interest in the new U2 album, but there seem to be a lot of people nervous about it because it’s been so long since the last one and no one’s sure if it’s going to be good. The early reports are good, as is the teaming of producers and so on. But we’re just going to have to wait and see. Sorry to break that to you.  I know you want to hear this album soon. I sure do. It’s going to be a great spring, but it’s only winter still, so cool your heels. Start a marathon of U2’s earlier albums. There you go.

In an interview with Q magazine, The Edge doles out advice to his fans (though it also seems like a challenge) about the new album. “I want people to listen to it as opposed to just buying it.” So there you have it America. Listen to it, but don’t buy it.
