The longtime manager and associate of the world’s most famous Irish rock band group U2, Paul McGuinness, escaped very narrowly after involving in a terrifying accident while he was riding a horse near his estate in Co Wicklow. Paul McGuinness was immediately taken to the hospital after being thrown out of the horse that he was riding and even though he encountered a pretty awkward fall, only his collarbone was broken. He escaped from being paralyzed only by a whisker. He was in total pain and discomfort when he was rushed to the hospital and is aware that he has had a lucky escape.
Bono wants more to be done for Africa

Bono is happy that Japan has expressed its desire to help the poor and war torn country of Africa. As a guest attendee of the fourth Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD IV) , Bono showed his pleasure to the public one day before the African development conference was to be held in Yokohama and praised Prime Minister Yasuo Fukuda’s doubling their efforts in eradicating poverty and famine in Africa. But the humanitarian in Bono says that this is not enough and he wishes that more can be done to help the long suffering nation. He also recommends that the Food and Agriculture Organization be helped as food supplies are running low.
U2 plans for overseas recording

Joe O’ Herhily, the U2 soundman, said that the band is all set to do recording in France. The band was doing their recordings at the Windmill Lane Studios in Dublin for a period of time and has now decided that they need a change, as they are creating new songs. Joe said that he will soon join the band at France to begin the work with them. The U2 band hopes that they can come out with the new album by September or October and can plan their tour for the year 2009. All the U2 fans are anxiously waiting for the new album’s release.
Peace gig at Belfast is highlight of U2’s career

The front man of the world famous U2 band, Bono, has revealed that the U2’s historic peace concert at the Waterfront Hall in Belfast was the most important event to have happened in the history of U2 so far. Bono, in a recent interview, said that he very much admired the people of Belfast for voting yes in the referendum for the peace process. He said that this gig at Belfast was featured in the headlines of most newspapers for tow or three days. David Trimble and John Hume had joined the U2 band on stage and Bono held their hands high in the air as a symbol of hope.
Bono celebrates his 48th birthday in Monaco

The lead singer of the world famous U2 band, Bono, celebrated his birthday last Friday night at Sass Café in Monaco and it was not an ordinary birthday party at all. The list of the invited guests to the birthday party goes like this: Brad Pitt, the U2’s lead guitarist The Edge and Prince Albert II of Monaco. The café manager said that it was a surprise party as they received a call to organize the same late on that afternoon. The dinner was all arranged by Bono’s wife Ali Hewson and the guests were treated with red wine at the dinner table. A champagne toast for Bono and a candle lit strawberry cake followed right after the meal.
U2’s landmark tower’s construction all set to begin

There are news filtering through that the construction of the proposed landmark U2 tower Liffey high-rise is all set to commence by the end of the year after plenty of discussions, deliberations and rowing between the U2 members and the Dublin Docklands Development Authority (DDDA). The DDDA spokesperson said that the negotiations between the DDDA and the potential bidders are nearing completion and Geranger Ltd, a conglomerate of developer Paddy McKillen, Ballymore Properties and members of the U2, has been chosen as the preferred bidder. Geranger Ltd will be building a skyscraper that is about 60 m higher than the Spire and Dublin’s U2 fans will soon be able to see the landmark tower erected.

U2’s Edge and the Pitt’s meet up in France

The U2’s lead guitarist David Howell Evans who is popularly known as The Edge and the lead man of the U2 band Bono spent the last weekend at a beach in Southern France with one of Hollywood’s most famous celebrity couple Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie. Brad Pitt and his pregnant colleague Jolie were on a family outing to the beach on May 4th with their adopted children Zahara, Maddox, Pax Thien and their biological daughter Shiloh. Bono and The Edge were there in France last weekend for recording their new album.
The U2 musicians were staying in a shared villa in a place called Eze in France and they took photographs with the celebrity couple near their villa. All of them enjoyed the weekend thoroughly in each other’s company and Jolie had spent a lot of time discussing with U2 guitarist the Edge over their latest album and concert tour.

Official sources have revealed that the book “U2: A Diary” will be released this coming October 2008, much to U2’s fans’ delight. The price has already been listed in the Amazon and Amazon UK site and fans will be glad to know that for only $19.77, they can own a glossy book filled with information about their favorite band. Published by Omnibus Press, this 320-page book is slated to be sold in paperback and hardcover format. Fans can peruse this well written tome and gain insight about important stories pertaining to U2’s journey in music throughout the years, with a detailed timeline chronicling events, interviews and vital facts.
U2’s musical instruments to go for auction

One of the leading members of the U2 band group and guitarist Edge has recently announced the Icons of Music Sale II that will be held on May 31st to benefit Music Rising. This mega auction event is to be held at Hard Rock Cafe in New York Times Square and the entire range of music memorabilia and the auction is to be televised live. Julien’s Auction is playing host to this event and it is expected that many loyal U2 fans will be bidding for the U2 memorabilia.
Music Rising is a movement that is co-founded by U2’s the Edge, Gibson Guitar as Chairman, Henry Juszkiewicz and well-known produced Bob Ezrin in 2005 and was started with the sole purpose of helping the musicians along the Gulf coast region to regain their livelihood after the Hurricanes Rita and Katrina caused havocs in their lives. Aaron Neville, will be performing in the evening session at the Icons of Music Sale II and has pledged his support for Music Rising.
